1st.  Quarter 2025

We have good news the Social Security Fairness Act after 40 years was passed. Our formal President, Joe Biden signed this piece of legislation prior to leaving the White House. This legislation will give our CSRS retirees the right to receive the full Social Security benefits earned and deserved. This is proof any legislation that benefit letter carriers is worth fighting in order to get it passed. The passing of this piece of legislation should be an eye opener to never give up.

This is not the only piece of legislation that letter carriers are fighting to get passed. We have the following legislation pending: Federal Retirement Fairness Act (H.R. 1522).

This legislation would provide greater retirement security for federal employees including Postal Service employees that was in a non-career position when they were employed.

Over 132,000 letter carriers start in a non-career position.

We have a pending piece of legislation that would not only benefit letter carriers it would benefit the hold nation. As you see this piece of legislation Oppose postal privatization and support (H. Res.70).  If the postal service is privatized it would be jeopardizing jobs of thousands of postal employees not counting another thousands of veterans and please do not forget our rural area in all of the states. If the postal service becomes privatized the mailing system would place your mail, money medicine and election mail in endanger.

There is another piece of legislation Protect Our Letter Carriers Act (H.R. 1065/S. 4630).

This legislation would strengthen sentencing guidelines for crimes against letter carriers, ensuring that they are treated in the same manner as assaults on federal law enforcement officers. The only way we can any legislation pass we must communication with our congressional representative and contribute to their pact.

All of the above legislation information can be found on the NALC.org website. You can sign up with the Letter Carrier Political Fund. If you are not a letter carrier but is relative of a letter carrier you can sign -up to in order to give to the fund. When we give to the Letter Carrier Political Fund or congressional representatives are fighting for what is right for all of use.

I would to thank Branch 4065 President for having Vice President Everett Wyllie and myself attend the meeting last month. I would also like to thank the President of Branch 4798 for inviting me to their on March 13,2025
